[She terminates the connection and heads towards his pod. It doesn't take her very long and under fifteen minutes she's politely knocking at his door.
There is a lot that she doesn't understand about this world and the people here but she likes Jack and she feels as if he's someone who might understand just how uncertain she is. He rarely seems to ask for things but will accept her help when it's offered. It's a balance and it's one that she's comfortable with.]
Jack? [Her voice is sweetly delicate as she calls to him.] It's me. I hope I didn't take too long.
[She doesn't want to just walk inside, so she waits patiently for him to answer the door.]
[The door opens a little quick; he'd been waiting directly next to it and as soon as he sees her, it seems to occur to him how eager that looked. God, he feels like an idiot around her. He can't think of anything to say, either, so he just awkwardly ushers her in.
If anything, the best descriptor of this room is.. utilitarian. It doesn't look like anyone lives here at all - unless she looks near the bed, where everything that Jack presumably owns and doesn't keep in his sweater has been tucked away for safe-keeping. Everything from his flame-thrower to his cassette tapes to loose dollar bills are piled under the bedframe and are spilling slightly onto the right of the floor.
[She steps inside, quickly moving out of Jack's way as he closes the door behind her.
His place is odd, impersonal but very much like Jack too. She glances towards the bed room and the bed but only spots a slight hint of gleaming metal before turning back towards Jack. She doesn't really want to intrude or over inspect but she does plan to buy him some things to decorate the main room with.
It'll help make it a home.
Maybe fished themed things.]
Are you okay Jack? [Her fingers lace nervously in front of her as she spoke.] You sounded tense before. [She should have brought him tea.]
[The word 'fine' makes her pause. She doesn't exactly believe him but she doesn't want to argue with him either. He doesn't look like he's doing alright.
She steps forward but stops as his mouth opens and closes.
Jack's question surprises her. Not the question itself but it's source. She hadn't thought that he liked touching since he had gotten tense nearly every time she touched him. But that didn't matter right now. Her expression softens into a warm smile and her arms wrap around his shoulders as she pulls him into a hug.]
[He still tenses this time, but a moment later he relaxes and moves to wrap her up in a bear hug. He's careful not to hold her too tightly, honestly afraid that he might hurt her if he isn't conscious of his own strength.
He can't express properly how meaningful it is, and he knows it must be so mundane to anyone else. But he's connecting with another human, and it's sort of novel.]
Thanks.
[He leans his cheek on top of her head, and takes a deep breath that shakes a little toward the end. This... this is nice.]
[She leans against him and her arms tighten around his shoulders.
It's nice.
His arms are strong, warm and she fits comfortably against him even if she is a little bit smaller. For the first time she can smell the unabashed scent of his skin over the pungent scent of his fishy sweater and she finds that she likes it. There is something earthy about the aroma and it isn't just the thick smell of copper and salt.]
[He probably won't take her up on it... he's sure he'd be too nervous about bothering her, or hurting her. But right now he's going to hold on as long as she'll let him.
And he'll try not to focus too much on how nice she smells, or how soft her hair is. He doesn't feel worthy of thoughts like that.]
If she'd known his thoughts, she would have reassured him. It will take more than a hug to break her. because she isn't human. It's a little bit of magic but it's in her bone and blood just as the ADAM was in Jack.]
It's okay Jack. I promise.
[She lightly runs her fingers down his back, trailing along the edge of his shoulder blade. She isn't in a rush and will hug him for as long as he needs.]
no subject
[He hesitates, wrings his hands a bit.]
People are dead. I thought...
[It's stupid. But he can't help worrying anyway.]
no subject
[A beat.]
Were you looking for me? I've been investigating those who've gone missing.
I can come find you.
no subject
I'm.. in my room. You can come here.
[He hadn't even bothered to look for her, honestly... as soon as he started seeing the messages about dead bodies, he'd jumped the gun.]
Sorry.
no subject
[She isn't surprised that he has a room but she has no idea where it is.]
And there is no need to be sorry. I like speaking to you Jack.
no subject
[He's also.. just silently turning red at her words. He's sure she doesn't know how much it means just to be told someone enjoys his company.
Now, he just needs to shove everything messy under his pod so that his room looks semi-presentable...]

Maybe he thinks that this makes them hidden.]

[He stands there awkwardly, then glances back at the door, opening his mouth and closing it for a moment as he tries to formulate words.]
Can I hug you?
[He really hopes she understands, he just needs that bit of reassurance that she's there and safe.]

Of course you can. You can always hug me.
[Hugs are nice.]
